The new prototype is being tested! In the past couple of weeks a lot of work has been done on finishing the mechanical details and the electronics of the robot. I would like to thank Raymond de Callafon and Mike Bax for their support in getting all electronics ready.
The first closed loop tests in the driving direction have been performed successfully. As can be seen in the movie, the robot is able to maintain its balance, even when it has to face disturbances. In this test only the gyroscopic sensor and the motor encoder measurements were used by the controller.
Currently, experiments in the lateral (side to side / roll) direction are carried out. Hopefully, the robot will soon balance in this plane as well.
